SMCS IBA Karachi held its Third Industry Advisory Board meeting at the IBA Main Campus

Dated: October 13, 2026: Dr. Shahid Hussain, Chairperson, Department of CS and Chair IAB, led the meeting.

He was joined by Dr. Salman Zaffar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CS, Ms. Wareesha Ayub, Data Analyst OBE & Usama Qadeer, Sr. Executive Industrial Linkages, SMCS Dean’s Office, whereas from the industry Ms. Farah Mehboob Founding Member of ASPIRE Pakistan, and Mr. Muzzamil Hussain, AVP/Section Head National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), joined virtually by Mr. Saiyed Shahab Ahmed, Head of ERP & Applications, Mr. Mohsin Zamir, Sr. Digital Experience Analyst, and Mr. Danish Ahmed, Head of Data Engineering, Raqami Islamic Digital Bank.

Dr. Salman Zafar presented the progress of OBE implementation at SMCS. Board members then offered valuable suggestions to strengthen the program further.

The board emphasized linking academic learning more closely to computing professionalism. They recommended bringing real-world case studies, including legal, regulatory, and ethical scenarios, into technical courses, with industry and alumni contributing these cases. Members also suggested mandatory student workshops mapped to program outcomes.
