FCS IBA hosts the 5th Annual CEO Forum 2015


Faculty of Computer Science, IBA hosted its 5th Annual CEO Forum this year at the City Campus inviting some of the most prominent CEO’s from the IT Industry of Pakistan. The core agenda of the meeting was to discuss and shape the future directions for the Computer Science Department at IBA.

Amongst the topics discussed, it was stressed that the BS (CS) program should focus mainly on the fundamental concepts of Computer Science with the final year being the one where students get practical exposure by getting involved with the industry to come up with solutions to real world problem. Moreover, at the MS Program, students should also be exposed to project management and business electives so that they can deliver better results for the organization.

The event started with a Networking Session and Tea, followed by a shot introductory video by Dr. Sayeed Ghani, Associate Dean of FCS in which he gave an overview of the latest activities at FCS , the research work being done by the MS and PhD students and also the new infrastructural developments at both the campuses.

The event was then open for discussion and the Dean and Director Dr. Ishrat Husain along with Dr. Sayeed Ghani and other key faculty of FCS IBA engaged with the CEO’s with more focused discussion regarding the orientation of CS graduates of IBA in the job market and industrial linkages with FCS IBA.

The forum was attended by Mr. Humayun Bashir (IBM), Mr. Shariq Rehman (IBM), Mr. Asif Peer (Systems Ltd), Mr. Shoab Khan (P@SHA), Mr. Ashraf Kapadia (AT&T), Mr. Rahim Lalani (TRG), Mr. Danish Lakhani (Cybernet), Mr. Sohail Siddiqui (Philips), Mr. Asim Haque (Infotech), Mr. Tahir Nawazish (Teradata) and Mr. Usman Zuberi (VentureDive). In addition Dr. Shakeel Khoja, Chairman Department of CS, and faculty members Dr. Sajjad Haider, Dr. Zaheeruddin Asif, Dr. Hisham bin Zubair and Dr. Faisal Iradat were present. The event ended with a lunch during which the senior faculty of Computer Science Department networked with CEO's.
