ACM-IBA “Orientation and Welcome to Coding session”

On Thursday 29 October 2015, ACM-IBA organized an “Orientation and Welcome to Coding session” The main aim of ACM IBA is to promote computing as a science and profession.

The session started off with an introductory speech given by the faculty member of Computer Science, Dr. Sajjad Haider. He shed light onto the collaboration of Faculty of Computer Science with ACM IBA, emphasizing on the benefits of having an ACM Chapter here at IBA, ant that it opens many doors to the expertise and growth in this field.

The session was followed by Mujeeb Qureshi, current chairperson of ACM-IBA, who talked in detail about the events and workshops that are planned in line this year.

Syed Muhammad Dawer, current final year student, spoke on the importance of coding and how ACM provides an opportunity where students could bridge up the gap between skilled coders and starters at IBA.

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), is the world’s largest educational, computing and scientific society. The organization is responsible for catering to all the IT related services which includes providing a platform for publishing researches, standardizing computing protocols, rewarding on achievements and research work.

 ACM-IBA Student Chapter has been formed to introduce students to an educational and scientific association and to develop the habit of professional growth achieved through participation in local student chapters. ACM-IBA also won an award on Outstanding Recruitment Program for the year 2014 which is indeed a proud moment for all of us at FCS.
