July 14, 2013: Information Technology Exhibition & Competition is an all Pakistan IT event organized every year by CSIT Dept of NED University of Engineering & Technology.

This year, the event encompassed a variety of different IT competitions including Speed Programming, Networking, Databases, ICT Idea Competition and many others.

In the event, the IBA team presented the idea of “Crowd Sourcing Reporting Into Alert Notifications”. The system provides real-time reporting and retrieval of red zone area around the city. SMS message would be used for all the activities that would target a vast range of audience and market. The data would be highly beneficial for law-enforcing agencies to plan any future strategies or to analyze different performance parameters of different areas. The comments and remarks suggested the idea as much needed app for the city due to increasing crime rates and merely a very small percentage of people actually reporting their crimes to the police station.

The idea stood third amongst the 28 ideas presented at the competition.

The team included Bushra Afreen (BS-V) and Imran Hemani (BS –VI).
