This Fall-2014, two major events ConneXions and the
Final Year Project (FYP) symposium were held to award
the students for their yearlong academic
project/research.
The ConneXions event was organized by the Computer
Science Society (CSS) at IBA to award three best
projects in which projects from universities all over
Pakistan in including those at FCS were exhibited. The
top three projects received cash prizes of Rs. 40k, 20k
and 10k. Following ConneXions, the FYP Symposium was
held to further evaluate the FCS student projects for
the award of department gold medal.
In both events the exhibits were judged based on
interviews with team members. The specific evaluation
criteria include: requirements analysis, understanding
of the competitor products, utility of the developed
software/product, software design, software
demo/execution, project completion status, and
professionalism and presentation skills.

1st Position (GOLD Medal) Autonomous Hover of QuadCopter This research focuses upon achieving the stability of the quadcopter in 3-D space. It’s main focus is on understanding the mathematical model for the quadcopter. The mathematical model is the base for the research. It has been integrated with the PID (Proportional, Integral and Derivative) controller. The model is first simulated in a mathematical software (MATLAB) and then on the quadcopter. |

3rd Position Chotu The basic idea of the project is to add some “skills” to the TurtleBot® and make it socially interactive. Robot Operating System (ROS) is a collection of frameworks for the robot software development. It serves as a meta-operating system by providing services such as hardware abstraction, low-level device control, message-passing between processes, and package management. ROS is now an industry standard for the research in the fields of Robotics and AI. It has vast applications in both commercial and research. |
